All Around the House

In All Around the House: Photographs of American-Jewish Communal Life, photographer Jay Wolke captures the rich complexity of Chicago's Jewish community through a series of 65 stunning images. Centered entirely on the close-knit neighborhoods of Chicago and its suburbs, Wolke's photographs capture with striking clarity the various Jewish patterns of living in a uniquely American context. University of Chicago historian Joel Snyder calls Woke's work "a view of the complex culture of a people whose devotion to the past everywhere intersects with the anxieties and pressures and pleasures of the present."
